Olympic Gold medallist Ben Hunt Davis MBE gives a brilliant top tip which he declares enabled the English Men’s Rowing 8 to win Olympic Gold in 2000. Inspiring his audience with his combination of enthusiasm and humility he tells the story of how his team went from 7th place to Gold medal position in just 2 years. “I am often asked to speak about the question ‘Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?’ — the killer question and mind-set that enabled the Men’s Rowing 8+ to win an Olympic Gold medal in 2000. My presentation is a simple story about how we work hard to make sure that we were doing the right things and how we were constantly trying to improve how we did them. It seems as though we often spend our time doing what’s in front of us rather that doing the things that will really make a difference. I hope that my story helps people think about what their equivalent to ‘Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?’ is and what they actually need to do, rather than just doing what they’ve done before.”
